I’m a student. Can I work through EOR?

Guides Other useful tips Relocating with EOR
“I’m a student. Can I work through EOR?”
That’s one of the most common questions we get — and the short answer is: yes, if you’re already in Finland.
The job market can be tough, especially for international students. After hearing from many of you, we created an EOR pathway for those who have graduated here and want to continue living in Finland — the land of a thousand lakes.
If you already have a client abroad — we’ll help make things official.
You’ll be able to stay in Finland, gain employee status, and extend your residence permit.
Dear students, stay in Finland — we’ve got your back at the start of your career!

What is EOR?

EOR (Employer of Record) is a model where you're officially employed in Finland through Nerdsbay, while working directly with your own client (for example, from Europe or the US).
Here’s how it works:

🔳 We become your legal Finnish employer and invoice your client

🔳 You receive an official monthly salary

🔳 We handle your taxes and social contributions

🔳 You can apply for a work-based residence permit

Who is EOR for?

🔳 You hold a student residence permit or a job-seeking permit

🔳 You have a remote client who is willing to pay at least €2600/month (this is the invoice amount, not your salary)

🔳 You want to stay in Finland and work officially
We’ll provide you with a contract where you’ll earn from €1600/month gross — which meets Finnish Immigration Service requirements for a work-based permit.

What happens after your student or job-seeking permit expires?

You’ll be able to switch to a work permit based on your EOR employment contract.
