Living in Finland while working for a US or other foreign employer is possible!
While Finland does not have residency permits like a digital nomad visa or investor residence permit (for purchasing property or investments), there is a legal alternative: relocation through Employer of Record (EOR).
EOR is an organization that acts as the official legal employer for specialists relocating to Finland. The company hires the specialist on a permanent basis and sells their services through a Service Agreement with the company they previously worked for.
We have been providing EOR services since last year, and IT specialists relocate with us through this option every month.
Our advantages:
How the process works: We negotiate with the company of the employee wishing to relocate to Finland via EOR. We verify the company's legality, discuss contract details, and monthly billing. Negotiations take 2-3 weeks. After signing the contract with the company, we hire the employee and assist with the residence permit application.
Employees under EOR are entitled to vacation and sick leave just like any other employee in Finland, according to the law.
Minimum contract requirements:
Example monthly calculation for a €7,000 gross salary:
Plus a one-time fee of €2,000 at the start of employment, which covers our full support of all processes: document collection, company negotiations, residence permit acquisition, and relocation assistance (paid by your company).
We recommend discussing salary increases with your employers before relocating to cover tax expenses. Among our EOR clients, there are examples of successful negotiations. You can also discuss reimbursement for temporary housing and document processing.
