When we started our main channel, we focused on developers. But things have evolved, and EOR is now helping designers, marketers, analysts, and more settle in Finland with full legal status and benefits.
Today, we’re sharing a story from our community about someone who relocated to Finland using EOR and no, he’s not a programmer.
Meet Peter. He’s been living in Finland for about three and a half years with his wife and their cat. Before relocating, he worked at big IT companies, and earlier was an art director and co-owner of a design studio. He also freelanced, although he never fully identified as a freelancer.
He and his family literally moved by truck, door to door. These days, Peter works remotely as a product designer for a UK-based company. He’s officially employed through Nerdsbay using EOR — and he says the experience is almost identical to being directly employed in Finland. Same taxes, salary structure, health insurance, even the option to work from an office (though he prefers not to 😅).
What turned out to be the toughest part? Not the move itself, but what comes after: sorting out bank accounts, ID numbers, housing. In Finland, everything works flawlessly… once you’re “in the system.” But getting there is a bit of a maze: you need an ID to rent a flat, a bank account to get an ID, and so on. Peter’s advice? Be ready for some bureaucracy, and have some savings set aside to get you through the first stretch.
For the record, he didn’t relocate through us, but these days, we’ve made the process much simpler for our EOR clients with a clear, streamlined setup.
⭐️ What Peter says about EOR:
“It’s a brilliant solution — especially now that the local job market is tough. With EOR, I can work for any company in the world and still live here, with all the rights and benefits.”
His tips for anyone planning a move:
✔️ Don’t count on money from back home — move your funds in advance.
✔️ Don’t dive into work right away — give yourself at least a couple of weeks to settle in.
✔️ Even if it’s not just a trial move, with the right prep, it’s totally doable.

So if you’re a designer, marketer, analyst, or UX expert — you’ve got the same opportunity to relocate to Europe as any developer. You just need to be open to new formats: remote roles, EOR contracts, international employers.
